Creating a new device, manufacturers try not to take risks and go on the beaten path. Russian company Gametrix – not one of them. Two years ago, she introduced gaming rudders with innovative magnetrasis sensors of the rotation angle. And now I released a vibrating aid with the difficult name Jetseat True Live Sense. With its help, Gametrix will let us feel what it feels like to catch an armor -piercing projectile with the left side or fly out on the sidelines on the new Subaru Impreza.
Three in the boat
The device resembles a soft fabric cover for a large office chair. Six vibromotors located in pairs at the level of blades, lower back and buttocks are hidden inside Jetseat True Live Sense. Depending on what is happening on the screen, the cape triggers a certain group of engines and regulates the intensity of their vibration. This should work like this: they flew out in the car symbolic with the right wheels on gravel – the right group of motorized engines turned on; caught a bullet in a shooter – the points under the shoulder blades worked.
A special fee is responsible for the distribution of vibrations. Having received a signal from the computer, she supplies power to one of the engines and makes it tremble. Teams for Jetseat True Live Sense can be three types.
The first, the easiest – sound. The cape is connected to an audio card, and a special analyzer is looking for a place saturated with low frequencies in the output signal, where, in theory, all shots, explosions and blows lie. As soon as Jetseat True Live Sense finds a suitable passage, motors are turned on. By the area of the chair, the vibration is distributed taking into account the volume and intensity of the output signal. It is also taken into account from which channel the sound came – from the left or right.
The second type of signal – Force Feedback commands. The cape prescribes itself in the system as a bicom -axis joystick and intercepts signals DirectX. In this mode, Jetseat True Live Sense vibrates much more precisely, since the effects are pre -prescribed in the game, and not created on the basis of the sound path. True, vibration is distributed only if the game is designed to work with several engines. If the developers have prescribed effects only for a simple joystick with Force Feedback, then the cape will shake like one large motor.
The third type of team is direct support Jetseat True Live Sense from the game. Gametrix offers a special API developers to write effects. And if programmers use it, then the game will be able to pointily distribute vibration around the entire perimeter of the cape. Use options can be invented as much as you like. For example, tie vibration to the points of the character's body. Or make the cloak tremble when you run into the bumps in the car symphulator. So far, Gametrix managed to persuade only the company Wargaming.Net , which added support for the cape in World of Tanks.

Connecting and configuring Jetseat True Live Sense is not easy. First you need to fix the cloak on the chair. We throw the cover onto the seat, bend in the shape of the chair and wrap it around with the embroidery belts, the bending place and the seat. Next, you need to connect to the computer.
Four wires come out of Jetseat True Live Sense. The first is inserted into a 220 in a socket. Second, USB, to the Free Port of the Computer. Third-3.5 mm jack-in the output of the audio card. To the fourth we attach the freed cable from columns or headphones.
The next step is to install software. There is no disk with drivers in the kit – software must be downloaded from the official site. Put in two doses: first the control program Jetseat Control Center , and then, on top, Force Feedback Drivers. There are few settings. You can choose the strength and vibration modes and disconnect the interception of Force Fedback signals. The last point in the software was implemented strange. To get to the configuration, you need to clamp “Shift” + “Ctrl” and poke the Gametrix logo with a cursor.
The first flight
For tests, we installed five games of different genres on the computer: Prince of Persia for 2008, Dirt 3 , Far Cry 2 , " Il-2 attack aircraft " And World of Tanks. Let's share my impressions.
We started Prince of Persia. Chose the simplest mode – interception of sound – and launched the game. The cape was not long in coming. The first screensaver shook our chair as if an artillery shell exploded nearby. The effect is impressive, but sitting on such a bomb was unpleasant. Without waiting for the full loading of the game, we returned to the settings of the cloak and twisted the slides of the intensity of the effects to a minimum.
The second launch was calmer. Jetseat True Live Sense ignored the screensavers, did not respond to the sounds of the menu and missed the chatter of the characters past the ears.
Sensations from the game with Jetseat True Live Sense unusual. When you just move and crawl along the walls – the cape is silent. Landing after a jump – gently trembles under your feet. So different
In Dirt 3, we missed the mode of intercepting the sound and immediately went to the vibration settings. I saw a cape and offered to turn on the feedback. We agreed and went to the track. There was no reaction. Jetseat True Live Sense did not react to the bumps of the road or terrible accidents. Long digging in the settings did not give the result – I had to start the interception of the sound.
The effect is the same as in Prince of Persia. At first, all these trembling from landings or accidents cause a smile, but after a couple of circles it is impossible to play without them.
But in the shooters the cape did not take root. There is no feedback support in the advanced far Cry 2, and in the mode of interception of the sound Jetseat True Live Sense was clearly lost. Each shot, hit or explosion turned into a frantic shaking of motors. To somehow calm the cloak, we reduced the volume of medium and high frequencies. After that it became possible to play, but I had to forget about the accuracy of the effects.
The next to our test went "IL-2 Sturmovik". Gametrix herself pointed to this game, prompting that here Force Feedback will definitely work. So it happened. The cape vibrates not only from the rumble of a motor or shooting, but also notifies about the flooding in a corkscrew and touching the ground. During piloting, this helps a lot. Determine what is happening with the machine, by vibration it is much more convenient than according to devices.

Well, the last test is a game officially supporting Jetseat True Live Sense, World of Tanks. No settings or sound adjustments: launch “tanks”, and the cape is ready for work. The effect is impressive. With Jetseat True Live Sense you really feel like a powerful commander. As soon as the rumbling of the motor comes from the columns, light vibration appears under the hips.
Start moving – motors are turned on under the buttocks. Turn around in place – vibration grows under one of the legs. Shoot – all points are turned on. Recharge – get a tangible push under the shoulder blades. Well, if you were unlucky and an enemy shell flew to the side, then Jetseat True Live Sense launches all the motors at full power.
After a couple of battles, a clear reflex is produced on vibration. Hit under the shoulder blades – it means that you can make a shot. Turn around and do not feel shaking under your feet-you rested on something and stand still. You get used to it so quickly that in a couple of hours you do not understand what is happening to the car without a cloak.
The cape is available in two versions – from fabric and leatherette. 2,300 rubles are asked for a simpler version, for the senior model – 2500 rubles. Is it worth giving money for new sensations – you decide. On the one hand, Jetseat True Live Sense does not work out the declared opportunities. There is only all the effects of all the effects in only one game, and the promised interception of the Force Fedback signals turned on, we have turned on only once. On the other hand, technically with Jetseat True Live Sense, everything is in order: it provides vibration in the right places, and playing with it is really unusual.
