Remake of El agente topo (2020)
Synopsis
Charles, a retiree, gets a new chance at life when he answers an ad for a private investigator and becomes a mole in an undercover investigation at a retirement home. Michael Schur was inspired to create “A Man On the Inside” after watching the Chilean documentary “The Mole Agent.” Says: Documentary “The Mole Agent” is powerful because it makes people feel something surprisingly similar, regardless of their age, ethnicity or gender, and I would describe that feeling in a very simplistic way as, “I have to call my mother.” In our show, we tried to do something similar with the tone: deep down, does our show contribute to this feeling of wanting to call our mothers?
These actors only get better with age and are wonderfully cast in this sweet comedy series!
I’m 67 and it was great to see so many actors of our generation and their great comedic styles. The script gets a little lost trying to solve the mystery and deepens the character arcs.
It’s really not a mystery
That’s okay because halfway through you have a pretty good idea who the culprit is. Don’t mind, it’s not a real mystery because you’re just having fun watching these old guys work and show off their stuff.

Just a tribute to the courage it takes to be an older person while still remaining active and feeling seen in our youth-oriented society. What a sweet tribute to those who support us and help us navigate the minefields of aging this series is.
