Synopsis
Following the events of The Batman (2022), Oz Cobb, aka the Penguin, is set to take over the criminal underworld of Gotham. Colin Farrell fought hard for his version of the Penguin in The Batman (2022), but failed. For his own series, however, the character is depicted as a casual tobacco user who prefers cigars.

who would be just as good
I thought Colin Farrell was great as the Penguin in Batman, but I never understood casting a skinny good-looking actor and giving him massive prosthetics and a fat suit… especially when I think he looks like some other famous actors. I also didn’t really understand why this spinoff was coming, and to be honest, I’m tired of Batman reboots.
But I didn’t expect to enjoy it this much
But after episode 1, I’ll say that this show is awesome (so far). I only watched it knowing that it was a must-watch bridge between the first and second movies, and my surprise delight at Farrell in the role in the first. The acting is amazing, the writing is amazing, and it surprised me with a few quick twists.
The biggest thing I liked was the fact that there was a lot more color in this than in Batman
I noticed this almost immediately because that was a huge complaint for me about the movie (it felt like I was watching it through a Zack Snyder lens). I hope it continues to be as good as it’s been, because I really can’t wait for the next episode.
